Hand
made felt & Batik workshops with parents
Small groups of interested parents were invited to attend
workshops with the potential that their children could then
participate either at home or by offering other sessions within
the nursery setting. During the afternoon session they created
various 3D felts such as bags, boots or hats.
‘I
have had such a lovely afternoon, thank you. It has been fun,
relaxing & I will go away with some fantastic ideas to
use with my children (& Guides). Thank you very much.’
‘Wonderful
course. Thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon. Lovely people –
very friendly & welcoming.’
On
another occasion parents expressed an interest to work with
more fabric techniques so they had a go at Batik. Using hot
wax and dyes to create patterns on the surface of the fabric,
they then transformed these into cards, fabrics for cushion
covers or as a picture to be framed.
“A
great creative morning! Haven’t done a hot wax type
of batik before – an interesting experience!”
“Thank
you for giving us the opportunity to play, express, experiment
with paints + tools that we don’t have at home. It’s
been wonderful, inspirational and great fun!”
