Background
As a Community Artist, my role is adaptable and experimental, helping others to develop their creativity through visual arts.

Education Work
My role allows me to develop Visual arts in schools, colleges and within the community. Each project is designed specifically for the group in mind to allow for maximum creative development. Sessions can run during a one-day taster workshop to a longer artist in residence project. I facilitate workshops for all age groups and abilities:

  • Early Years
  • Primary
  • Secondary
  • Special Needs
  • Adults/Teacher Training
  • Community Project

I have worked in educational settings now for over 12 years and have been fortunate to work with many groups within this time. Creating banners from felt, light and shadow presentations, 3D sculptures, den building, Batik panels and many more.

Training includes a BA (Hons) in Textiles, C&G 730/7 adult education for teaching adults and further education, BSL stage 2 (I am interested in delivering more workshops involving young deaf people) and an MA in Textiles. I have also visited Reggio Emilia in Northern Italy and worked in preschools in the UK using principles and philosophies observed on my visit in 2004.
